What qualifications are we looking for?
We strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following :
- Aged 16 or older
- Interest in working with children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Previous Day Camp or related experience preferred
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certified within 12 months
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search within 12 months
- Three professional references
- Available for hybrid training starting in March, in-person March 9-10
- Available full-time from March 25-29
- Experience in any of the following would be an additional asset :
o Visual arts, drama, dance, photography, swim, basketball, skating, and rock climbing
What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
Duties and Responsibilities include;Provide a fun, safe, and healthy environment for children registered in YMCA Calgary Day CampsProvide proactive supervision and facilitate daily activitiesWork alongside and collaborate with other Day Camp staff including Day Camp Supervisor, and Floaters.Plan and implement all aspects of the daily schedule within the provided curriculum, including arts and crafts, active group activities and sports including physical literacy activities, traditional day camp games and other engaging activities, while encouraging camper participationEnter the pool daily and engage in pool activities with campersDemonstrate and role model positive behavior when working with other staff, campers and membersFollow YMCA Calgary Policies and ProceduresProvide first aid when requiredGreet parents / guardians and campers on arrival and departure from camp.
