Overview
Electrical Engineer in our Edmonton office. You will join a dynamic, high-performance team that provides a broad spectrum of services to municipal and industrial clients. You will be active in the design of power systems including medium voltage electrical service, metering, primary and secondary switchgear, motor control centres, low voltage electrical distribution systems, lighting, hazardous location classification and design, and fire alarms. As an intermediate engineer you will also be involved in supervising engineers or technicians, project planning and the review of subordinates’ work for technical accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Design of power systems including medium voltage electrical service, metering, primary and secondary switchgear, motor control centres, low voltage electrical distributions systems, lighting, hazardous location classification and design, and fire alarms.
- Supervise engineers or technicians, participate in project planning, and review subordinates’ work for technical accuracy.
- Develop and review single line diagrams, cable and conduit schedules, control panel layouts, conduit routing, heat tracing, motor power and control schematics, and field wiring.
- Develop plans and details for hazardous area classification, grounding, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
- Develop specifications for electrical equipment such as electrical switchgear, motor control centres, and electrical back-up systems.
- Apply industry codes, standards, and safeguards (CEC, IEC, NFPA, and client company standards) to designs.
- Collaborate in a multi-discipline project setting and coordinate cross-discipline design intent.
- Demonstrate leadership and strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Work independently as a self-starter and as a team player.
- Conduct field inspections and / or work with contractors (asset).
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.Registered, or eligible for registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.5+ years of progressive experience in a multi-discipline engineering setting.Strong understanding of electrical theory, rotating machines, and electrical systems as they pertain to 600 VAC and lower.Benefits
