Who are we looking for?

Our team in Ontario is looking to hire a Key Client Relationship Manager and Environmental Planner / Communications Specialist in our growing Canadian Operations.

We are looking for an energetic and highly positive person to lead community engagement and outreach projects for major projects across GHD’s markets - water, transportation, property and buildings, energy and resources, environment, digital and advisory.

The role can be based out of any of our offices is the Greater Toronto Area Waterloo, Mississauga, Toronto, Markham, or Whitby.

Responsibilities :

Key Client Relationship Manager

  • Looking to the Future - Research municipal client capital improvement plans and reports to develop opportunity pipelines minimally 2-3 years into the future, across numerous markets Water, Transit / Transportation, Energy, Solid Waste, Environment, Asset Management, Digital.
  • Client Experience Self-initiate client interactions to assess strengths, challenges, needs and gaps, coupled with strategic alignment to GHD values.
  • Connectivity Work with Market Leaders, Technical Service Line Leaders, Business Group Leaders, and Capture Management Experts to define opportunities, utilizing the existing structure of the business to pre-position on pursuits.
  • New Business Capture / Client Development Work with the afore-mentioned professionals to build new business backlog, assist in growing year-over-year revenue by 20%, and exceed client experience expectations.
  • Long-Term Outlook Mentor 1 external professional and 2 internal professionals to evolve and propel the connected network model inherent to GHD.

Environmental Planner / Communications Specialist, with special focus on the Water Market

  • Provide strategic planning and roadmaps for GHD Impact Assessment and Permitting activities in Ontario, as well as involvement with the Americas Environmental Planning Service Line.
  • Build on previous client relationships to provide new business opportunities for master plans, environmental assessments, and downstream design and contract administration work, particularly in the Water market.
  • Assists with development and execution of the GHD strategy for the Impact Assessment and Permitting Business Group in Ontario and as necessary, Canada across all GHD markets / sectors, in collaboration with the Americas team and in harmony with Market Leaders.
  • Assist with growth of team through strategic recruitment activities.
  • Assist with the growth of the market ensuring GHD is ahead of client and market trends.
  • Given the national and often multinational nature of the clients in this space, tap into the connected network to ensure alignment around client approach.
  • Actively participate in key client meetings, and build effective relationships with key existing clients, while also expanding the client base.
  • Actively participate in professional and / or industrial organizations to promote the GHD brand.
  • Promote and collaborate in the development of innovative project delivery methods.
  • Support development of external market and brand collateral, campaigns, thought leadership, and strategic external engagements to position GHD firmly at the leading edge of the key Markets in which we operate.
  • Collaborate with Americas and Regional Market Leaders, Key Client Managers, Service Line Leaders, Client Sector Leaders, and Operations to achieve excellent business outcomes.
  • Prepare strategic advice to clients, including stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, risk analysis, and stakeholder management on behalf of clients.
  • Provide technical leadership and client-oriented solutions related to public consultation, outreach and education, risk communication, crises communication, stakeholder engagement, outrage management, and virtual engagement.
  • Contribute regulatory guidance and technical expertise on aspects of the environmental assessment process at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels (.

Impact Assessment Act).

  • Develop and execute new business strategies and build relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Design tactics and engagement activities that will generate meaningful feedback.
  • Provide facilitation for workshops, advisory committees and / or public meetings, including those that can be emotionally charged.
  • Liaise with project managers, subject matter experts, clients and subconsultants.
  • Develop consultation and engagement reports and work with graphic artists to translate communication material into visually engaging documents.
  • Provides leadership for the overall growth of our infrastructure business in Ontario

Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education in engineering ((., Chemical, Environmental), communications, public relations, environmental planning preferred.
  • 10-years environmental assessment / master plan experience in water / wastewater market sectors considered a significant asset.
  • Project experience in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, or community consultation preferred.
  • Experience in a consulting environment, having responsibility for meeting revenue targets and building a backlog of projects is preferred.
  • 2+ years water infrastructure design experience considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Policy and Legislation.
  • Experience writing for plain-language and managing the preparation of graphic design content.
  • Experience delivering projects that meet client objectives, manage risk, and result in high quality deliverables within a client-defined schedule and budget.
  • Experience working with First Nations (specifically in the water sector) would be an asset.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • IAP2 trained or working towards IAP2 training.
