Technical Writer – Canada Projects

Wood is recruiting for a Technical Writer to join its Canada Projects business. This opportunity is hybrid and can be based in Edmonton or Grande Prairie, AB.

Overview

This position is responsible for developing reports, proposals and other technical materials to support our project teams. The Technical Writer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and functional support teams to produce high-quality documentation that we are proud to submit to our clients.

Hybrid role – Edmonton or Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Responsibilities

Develop content for proposal submissions – project specific and within established programs

Develop reports for submission to clients as part of project deliverables

Develop other technical materials which could include training, change management, processes / procedures

Review and refresh proposal content

Participate as a contributing member of a team, communicating effectively on various tasks and projects as assigned

Follow client‑specific and department style guides and writing standards

Investigate and gather information required to complete assignments within deadlines

Interview clients or SMEs to obtain information

Communicate with SMEs to review content for technical accuracy

Report progress to Project Manager and update progress trackers

Expected Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in technical writing or a related technical discipline

5+ years of experience in technical writing

Strong English reading and writing skills

Proficiency in MS Office suite

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with SMEs and clients

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with content development tools (e.g., Storyline, Captivate) and learning management systems (LMS)

Spanish speaking is an asset but not required
