A leading organization in the construction sector is seeking an experienced Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). This role offers the opportunity to shape EHS strategy, champion a strong safety culture, and drive continuous improvement across complex projects.
The Role
As the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, you will lead EHS operations across major business units and projects while advising executives and senior operational leaders. You will oversee a team of safety professionals, ensure consistent implementation of EHS strategies and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, driving initiatives that promote continuous improvement and operational excellence across all business units and projects.
- Manage and guide EHS teams, ensuring effective delivery of safety programs and alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
- Lead the investigation of incidents and near misses, analyzing data to identify trends and implement effective solutions that reduce risk and improve outcomes.
- Supervise the management of workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs, ensuring compliance and supporting employee well-being.
- Develop and deliver EHS training, proposals, and client presentations, supporting business development and stakeholder engagement efforts.
Qualifications
Degree / diploma in EHS or a related discipline.Professional safety designation such as CRSP or NCSO.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior EHS role within construction or a related high‑hazard industry, with a proven track record of leading EHS teams.In‑depth knowledge of applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation, with the ability to apply legal requirements strategically across multiple business groups or regions.
