Summary
This role will become a subject-matter-expert, supporting internal data systems, improving business processes, and driving data-related activities. As the BI Specialist, you will work closely with multiple stakeholders within the business, from senior management to software developers, IT support, sales, and marketing. You will engage with business users from a support perspective while also gathering requirements for BI-related projects. You will be business-facing, with experience in understanding users’ technical support queries and requirements for data-driven process improvement initiatives. This post joins the Data & Analytics team within Enterprise Architecture with a responsibility to deliver industry-leading visualization solutions to ScanSource’s worldwide customer base.
Essential Job Duties
- Solve problems for large corporate clients in multiple business sectors.
- Develop leading visualization solutions, dashboards, and data models.

- Perform Power BI service administrative duties.
- Implement best practices when building and maintaining reports.

Requirements
Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally in English.A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics, computer science, or a related discipline is required.Three to five years of similar or related experience.Advanced Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Automate, Power Apps, Power Query, and SQL skills.Knowledge of Power BI role‑level security, premium capacity, embedded capacity, paginated reports, data modeling, incremental refresh, and gateway maintenance.Ability to ensure Power BI reports and dashboards perform optimally as models change over time and with large data sets.Knowledge of Data Integration and ETL tools. Perform data transformations and cleansing tasks to ensure that data is accurate, complete, and ready for analysis.Ability to quickly troubleshoot and solve user or refresh issues using Power BI.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, Macros, VLOOKUPs, etc.High attention to detail and ability to be flexible and learn quickly.Excellent organization, time, and task management skills.Must be reliable, maintain consistent attendance, and meet strict deadlines.Ability to follow and develop processes and procedures.Ability to work in a team environment and work independently with limited supervision.Ability to train other team members and internal customers on the Power BI interface.Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Application of logic, reasoning, and problem solving.Knowledge of Microsoft 365 software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).Preferred
Ability to learn new technologies quickly.Working understanding of the SDLC and QA lifecycle and methodology.Experience with Python or Spark for data processing.Experience using integration with source control (Azure DevOps, Git, or GitHub).Knowledge of cloud architecture.Experience using ServiceNow or Jira task‑management tools.Azure, Data Factory, Azure Pipeline & dataflow experience.Experience using Power Query and Power Apps.Experience working with data in Salesforce or Tableau, a plus.Experience using Visual Studio for SSIS, a plus.Experience using SAP, a plus.Physical Requirements
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time.Ability to be physically present at the workstation at the designated company office location during normal business hours.Compensation
Compensation Range : $65,000 - $78,000 CAD annually
Actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on a number of variables including work experience, education and skills / achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer. This position is not eligible for a variable pay component as part of the hiring range.
