Lending Representative - Peterborough
Lending Representative (Permanent, Full-time)
Location : Peterborough, ON
Hours : Monday to Saturday, 40 hours per week
Rate of Pay : Dependent on experience
As an Lending Representative, you will :
- Learn the consumer lending specialization and how to manage member relationships; contributing to the overall success of the Credit Union.
- Develop the required skills and knowledge to successfully transition to the Financial Services Representative position.
- Provide excellent member service to members and non-members in person, electronically or by telephone.
- Develop the ability to proactively recommend products and services to members that will enhance their financial well-being.
- Assist with transactions necessary to meet their financial needs, specializing in the function of consumer lending.
- Perform in branch lending administration duties which will include funding of lending products.
- Complete loan minutes on a daily basis.
- Counsel members on financial matters such as family budgeting, credit counselling, etc. Refer more complex business to a Manager or Specialist.
- Counsel members on value of creditor insurance and payment protection with focus on lifestyle and legacy. Complete administration of credit insurance commitment, waiver or cancellation.
- Conduct interviews (personal loans, lines-of-credit and mortgages), complete document / application preparation and credit analysis.
Transact member requests.
- Make recommendations to the applicable Manager / Specialist for approval or decline of credit applications.
- Communicate approval or rejection to applicant(s) with assistance and / or coaching from the applicable Manager / Specialist as required.
- Assist with the collection and follow-up of delinquent accounts, referring problems to a Recovery Officer.
- Identify and generate sales opportunities; cross sell all Credit Union products and services and participate in sales programs, and initiatives to attain individual, branch and organizational goals.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Post-secondary education with emphasis in business or financial planning would be an asset
- Two to three years of financial services industry experience
- Excellent member service and sales skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to make decisions using sound judgment for the benefit of both the Credit Union and member
- Ability to multi-task and work under deadline pressure
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact, discretion and diplomacy
