As a Director, Business Development, you will be responsible for driving company-wide revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term commercial success. This position leads the strategic direction of the Business Development function, ensuring sales initiatives are scalable, data-driven, and aligned with the organizations overall business strategy.
What you will be responsible for :
Strategic Business Development Leadership :
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with corporate goals and growth targets.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to regional and national business development initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify new markets, service lines, and expansion opportunities.
Revenue Growth and Market Expansion :
Drive sustainable revenue growth through new client acquisition, organic account expansion, and strategic partnerships.Oversee identification of target sectors, major pursuits, and long-term pipeline development.Ensure consistent execution of sales strategies across regions and teams.Sales Pipeline and Performance Management :
Provide executive oversight of the sales pipeline, forecasting accuracy, and performance metrics.Establish KPIs, targets, and accountability frameworks to drive results across the Business Development organization.Guide teams in complex deal strategy, negotiations, and closing of high-value opportunities.Client Relationship and Key Account Leadership :
Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.Support major RFP / RFQ responses, strategic bids, and long-term client agreements.Act as an escalation point for critical client matters, ensuring exceptional service and retention.Team Leadership and Development :
Lead, mentor, and develop senior business development leaders and teams.Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture focused on accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.Recruit, coach, and retain top business development talent.Market Intelligence and Strategic Planning :
Oversee market research, competitive analysis, and industry trend monitoring.Translate market insights into actionable growth strategies and business plans.Provide regular reporting and strategic updates to executive leadership.Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Work closely with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and HR to ensure alignment between sales strategies and operational delivery.Support integration of business development efforts during mergers, acquisitions, or organizational changes.What you get from us :

Experience within the traffic control industry, including a strong understanding of traffic control services, equipment rentals, and related sales models, is highly preferred.Familiarity with rental-based revenue streams, contract-based services, and operational collaboration within traffic control environments will be considered a strong asset.Proven track record in Sales leadership roles, prioritizing new business development; minimum 10-15 years of experience.Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., ERP, Salesforce, SAGE, SAP, HubSpot) and MS Office, particularly MS Excel and Google Workspace.Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.Demonstrated success leading large, multi-regional sales or business development teams.Proven track record of driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic partnerships.Experience working with data-driven sales management.Why Universal Group?
