Underground Electrician - Red Seal/ Journeyman

Location: Western Nunavut (FIFO from Edmonton)
Employment Type: Contract/Temporary (Several months duration)

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Underground Electricians for an exciting underground mine development project in western Nunavut. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled electricians to work on a major mining project with potential for long-term engagement based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs in underground mining environments
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical systems including motors, controls, lighting, and power distribution
• Work with high and low voltage electrical systems in underground mining operations
• Ensure all electrical work meets safety standards and mining regulations
• Collaborate with other trades and mining personnel on development projects
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
• Follow all safety protocols and participate in safety meetings

Required Qualifications

• Red Seal Electrician certification preferred (or Journeyman Electrician with equivalent experience)
• Underground mining experience required - non-negotiable
• Common Core Training or equivalent mining safety certification required
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work in remote camp environments
• Physical fitness for underground work conditions
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with mining electrical systems
• Experience with underground development projects
• Familiarity with mining equipment electrical systems
• Additional safety certifications (H2S, First Aid, etc.)
