JOB DESCRIPTION
The Business Analyst is a commercially focused role responsible for developing, analyzing, and supporting pricing strategies that enable new business acquisition, contract expansions, and portfolio profitability. The role blends pricing analytics, market intelligence, and financial modeling to support competitive, data-driven commercial decisions.
Acting as a strategic partner to Business Development, Operations, and Finance, the Business Analyst evaluates cost structures, margin targets, service assumptions, and market conditions to support pricing proposals and business cases. The role also contributes to cross-functional initiatives to optimize pricing, commercial, and analytical processes, improving efficiency, data quality, and decision-making across the business.
This role will also support the accounting function and provide transactional support for the accounting cycle understanding the impact of transactions on financial results and provide analysis and input for planning, forecasting, reporting, and audit requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Pricing Strategy & Commercial Analysis
- Provide analytical support for strategic, tactical, and operational pricing initiatives for new business and contract expansions.
- Develop pricing models that assess cost drivers, margin requirements, volume assumptions, and risk factors.
- Support solution design by evaluating commercial trade-offs between price, service levels, and profitability.
- Provide recommendations to improve win rates while protecting margin and long-term financial performance.
- New Business & Growth Support
- Partner closely with Business Development and Operations to support bids, proposals, and expansion opportunities.
- Prepare pricing inputs, commercial assumptions, and financial support for business cases and investment decisions.
- Analyze historical performance, cost variances, and make-good results to refine pricing strategies.
- Financial Analysis, Forecasting & Reporting (Enabling Capability)
- Prepare financial analyses to support pricing decisions, including margin analysis, sensitivity analysis, financial reporting and scenario modeling.
- Support forecasting activities by integrating pricing assumptions and commercial drivers.
- Prepare internal management reports related to revenue, margin performance, and pricing effectiveness.
- Support accounting cycle and month end reporting and variance analysis to forecast and plan
- Drive actionable insights through monthly variance analysis
- Accounting, Controls, Policy, & Governance Support
- Provide intermediate analytical and transactional support related to pricing, revenue, contract performance and accounting cycle
- Maintain documentation to support audit requirements and internal controls related to pricing and financial data.
- Understand GAAP requirements relevant to the accounting cycle
- Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Work on cross-functional initiatives to optimize pricing, commercial, and analytical processes.
- Identify inefficiencies, data gaps, and manual workarounds within pricing and financial workflows, and recommend scalable improvements.
- Support the design and enhancement of pricing tools, templates, and governance frameworks to improve consistency and turnaround times.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Business Development, and Systems teams to implement process improvements and document updated workflows.
- Systems, Data & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Use financial and pricing systems, Excel models, and analytical tools to support commercial decision-making.
- Understand and document data flows between operational, pricing, and financial systems.
- Translate complex pricing and financial outputs into clear insights for non-finance stakeholders.
- Prepare summaries, variance explanations, and recommendation memos for leadership review.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of pricing strategies, margin analysis, and commercial decision-making.Advanced analytical skills with the ability to model scenarios and evaluate trade-offs.Solid financial acumen, including cost structures, forecasting, and profitability analysis.Ability to interpret market and competitive data and translate insights into actionable pricing recommendations.Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support initiatives that enhance efficiency, data integrity, and commercial outcomes.Effective communication skills, particularly in explaining pricing logic and financial impacts to non-finance stakeholders.High proficiency in Excel and intermediate knowledge of financial and pricing systems.Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in pricing analysis, commercial finance, business analysis, or related roles.Experience in facilities management, commercial services, or contract-based services environments is considered an asset.Licenses and / or Professional Accreditation
None required.This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $60,505 - $75,633 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
