Belvika is currently seeking a Packaging Project Manager for its Export facility, located in Mississauga. Reporting to the Manager, Project Manager Office or designate, we are seeking a talented packaging expert who will be responsible for the packaging development and commercialization of our customer projects.

In addition, the candidate will lead the planning and implementation of these projects, and collaborate with various internal and external teams throughout the project cycle to ensure the successful launches of our customers’ products.

The successful candidate will :

  • Project Scoping
  • Lead the planning and implementation of customer new product and packaging projects.
  • Manage project plans, timelines and resource allocation to complete project goals and deliverables.
  • Development and Costing
  • Develop and recommend packaging and packing specifications for new and changing products based on product characteristics, retailer standards, manufacturing requirements, sustainability goals and cost targets.
  • Review and analyze technical drawings / dielines, color proofs, mock-ups, and samples.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Operations and Quality for technical aspects of packaging, and production feasibility
  • Collaborate with external partners and suppliers to quote and source packaging materials, and maintain relationships to keep updated on material leadtimes, new technologies and innovations in the packaging industry.
  • Prepare preliminary packaging and production cost estimates.
  • Trials
  • Organize line trials and First Production Approvals; prepare corresponding trial scopes and results reporting.
  • File setups and Maintenance
  • Product change management; maintain files, and documentation in our ERP systems and documents, and distribute to all appropriate departments.
  • Generate reports for Leadership on project status and progress.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify lean efficiency improvements and cost saving initiatives within projects.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education / Work experience requirements :

  • 2-5 years’ work experience in packaging development, packaging engineer, structural graphics or project management;
  • Understanding and exposure of the consumer products industry;
  • Bachelor or college degree required;
  • Valid Driver’s License & access to own personal vehicle;
  • Ability to travel to other sites as required
  • Knowledge of packaging materials an asset (eg. flexible packaging, folding cartons, corrugated boxes)
  • Knowledge of food packaging equipment an asset;
  • Strong Communication Skills, (document revisions and report writing) and good command of the English language
  • Strong Organization Skills;
  • Strong Time Management Skills.

Key technical & behavioural competencies :

  • Strong Computer and Microsoft Office experience;
  • Effective leadership and teamwork skills;
  • Ability to schedule and manage a small team of cross functional resources.
