Your Contribution

Englobe is currently looking for an Environmental Technician / Scientist to join the Environment team at its Thunder Bay office.

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will provide project support.

Your main responsibilities will be :

  • Apply and promote Englobe’s health and safety rules;
  • Perform Phased Environmental Site Assessments, including historical research, site inspections, records review, and site inspections;
  • Field work and data collection, including soil, surface water, sediment and groundwater sampling programs;
  • Preparation of field notes, data analysis and evaluation;
  • Participate in technical report and proposal writing;
  • Supervise and direct subcontractors during environmental investigations / remediation projects;
  • Perform other field and office responsibilities, as required to support Englobe’s multi-disciplinary projects; and,
  • Develop and maintain client relationships in the private, public and mining sectors.

Your Profile

  • College diploma / university degree in environmental monitoring, environmental engineering or earth sciences, or another environmental related field;
  • Entry level position although prior experience as an environmental consultant with experience in supervision of drilling and test pitting, collection of soil and groundwater samples is an asset;
  • Keen interest in environmental assessments, contaminant monitoring and natural science surveys considered is an asset;
  • Knowledgeable of northern Ontario’s environment, natural processes and local species;
  • Capable of using motorboats, all-terrain vehicles and snow machines;
  • Knowledge of both provincial and federal environmental regulations would be an asset;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to perform detailed analysis in various software programs;
  • Ability to use MS Word and MS Excel is an asset;
  • Ability to use various hand and powered tools an asset;
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain Security Clearance;
  • Attention to detail is a must for this position;
  • Multi-day travel throughout northwestern Ontario required;
  • Willing to work two-week rotations with overtime pay at remote mine sites;
  • Possession of valid Ontario driver’s license required;
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and consideration for health and safety;
  • Registration with PEO or PGO as an EIT or GIT, or eligibility to become an EIT or GIT, considered an asset.
