Position Overview
You're someone with an analytical mindset who is continuously looking for ways to improve current practices and approaches to their work, with a passion for innovation.
You’re digitally savvy and have a technical curiosity to explore, create, and transform.
As engineer, renewable gas compliance, you'll perform carbon accounting in alignment with regulations, established standards, and industry best practices.
Reporting to the manager, renewable gas compliance and reporting, this position focuses on developing and adapting renewable gas and low-carbon fuel compliance strategies and processes to ensure regulatory compliance of existing off-take agreements and potential projects.

In this role, you will :
- Take ownership of our existing compliance program by actively executing all compliance activities, and developing processes, tools, and structures to drive us forward.
- Support the development of updated life cycle assessment (LCA) modelling standards and guidelines to ensure compliance with mandatory standards and regulations.
- Streamline and standardize LCA modelling of existing plants to improve consistency across the portfolio and achieve cost efficiencies and shorter turn-around time.
- Establish yourself as compliance subject matter expert to the commercial team for the development of new supply contracts.
This includes guiding project proponents on carbon accounting requirements and ensuring the integrity of environmental attributes.
What it takes :
A bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering from an accredited university, plus a minimum of seven years of recent and related experience in an energy-related role.
Carbon management courses and certifications are considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated working knowledge in greenhouse gas accounting and carbon intensity modelling.
- Strong analytical and technical skill paired with critical thinking as you navigate our constantly evolving working environment.
The ability to quickly adapt strategies and processes to ensure continued robustness of our compliance program is essential.
- A proven track record of working with ISO standards, regulatory frameworks, government regulations, and commercial agreements to ensure compliance under a wide range of considerations.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills to engage with both internal and external stakeholders as you work to educate and find compromises while maintaining portfolio compliance.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
