JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent will be responsible for delivering individualized literacy programming to adult learners. This position will assist in the development of Indigenous adult-appropriate learning materials creating innovative learning opportunities, specifically developing and carrying out lessons for stage 1 learners, working one on one with beginning learners. The incumbent will promote the program while supporting the goals and objectives of the Neeginan Learning and Literacy Centre, the Neeginan Education, Training and Employment Services, and the Indigenous community.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare subject material for presentation to students who need an individual / specific learning plan
- Work collaboratively with staff members to deliver lesson plans to level 1 students
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for Level 1 students
- Deliver lesson plans / activities using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, and field studies
- Assign and correct homework
- Prepare, administer and correct tests
- Determine with individual students, their learning needs, plans, goals and objectives
- Evaluate and assess student progress and discuss results with students and school officials
- Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and instructor training workshops
- Participate in the planning and coordination of school events and activities
REQUIREMENTS
Relevant post secondary education (degree or diploma), an acceptable combination of education and experience may also be consideredDemonstrated expertise in the field of instruction, specifically with Literacy Learners an asset. Additional courses in teaching or a provincial literacy training may be requiredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
