Health Care Aide Casual Health Department- Riverside Care Facility ABOUT THE ROLE The Fort McKay First Nation is seeking motivated and multitasked oriented individuals who work well with little Supervision, are flexible and work well in a team environment to fill the casual positions of Health Care Aide , reporting directly to the Continuing Care Supervisor.
The Health Care Aide will be responsible for providing personal care and companionship for seniors, persons with disabilities and convalescent clients.
Care is provided within the continuing care facility. These are casual positions with hours that vary, this includes working nights, days and weekends.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to : Provide care and companionship for individuals and families during rehabilitation, or family disruption.
Administer bedside and personal care to clients such as aid in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing.
Escort clients to medical appointments as needed. May perform routine health-related duties such as changing non-sterile dressings only if certified as a Health Care Aide and upon supervision from an LPN.
Assist with the administration of medications and collecting specimens under the general direction of the LPN. Reporting to healthcare professionals with patient updates Follow Health and Safety principles in delivering care to residents and work effectively and cooperatively with family members.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitary needs of space. Maintain required records and documentation. Perform routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes, making beds and other related duties.
Other duties shall be assigned as required. KEY REQUIREMENTS Completion of Health Care Aide Certificate from an Accredited College / Program is required Experience in care of the elderly, care of persons with disabilities, convalescent care or in a related field is required An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
Previous experience in the health care field and working with older or chronically ill individuals Experience working in an Indigenous community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is considered an asset Valid class 5 Driver’s License & Clean Driver’s Abstract Required Clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector ABOUT FORT MCKAY The Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) is composed of over 800 band members, including those of Cree and Dene heritage, with approximately 400 members residing in the hamlet of Fort McKay a community located approximately 65 km north of Fort McMurray.
