About the Role
Tackpoint is looking for a Technical Buyer to help build and strengthen our supply chain as we continue to grow.
This is a hands-on, technical role for someone who enjoys working in the details — materials, specifications, inventory data, supplier performance, certifications, and lead times — and who wants to help design the purchasing and inventory systems that support a manufacturing organization.
This is not a passive purchasing or PO-processing role.
It’s a builder role for someone who wants real ownership and the opportunity to grow with the business.
What You’ll Do
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, tooling, consumables, and outsourced services
- Analyze RFQs with attention to specifications, lead times, risk, and total cost
- Create, manage, and follow up on purchase orders to ensure on-time, in-full delivery
- Track open POs and proactively escrow risks that may impact production
- Research and onboard new suppliers and support supplier performance improvement
Inventory Planning & Control
Own inventory accuracy and integrity within the ERP systemEnsure sufficient raw material inventory to support production while avoiding excess stockEstablish and maintain calculated reorder points, order quantities, and safety stock levelsApply inventory best practices such as EOQ and demand-based planning where appropriateMonitor inventory trends and proactively address shortages or overstock risksSupport and coordinate cycle counts and inventory discrepancy resolutionTechnical & Quality Responsibilities
Read and interpret technical drawings and material specificationsReview and maintain material certifications (e.g., mill test reports)Support ISO 9001 purchasing, inventory, and quality processesCross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Estimating, and Shipping & ReceivingSupport non-standard jobs by coordinating material readiness and supplier timingCommunicate clearly with internal stakeholders regarding inventory status and material risksSystems & Continuous Improvement
Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and supplier data in the ERP systemAnalyze usage, lead times, and supplier performance to support better decisionsIdentify gaps or inefficiencies in purchasing and inventory processes and propose improvementsWhat We’re Looking For
