Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for the position of Plant Metallurgist with a competitive base salary between $,.

00 $,.00 dependant on experience, skills, and qualifications, with an additional short term incentive of 15%. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills and competencies with consideration to internal equity.

We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Purpose of the Role

To improve metallurgical and operational performance of Red Chris Mill Operations. Focusing on short to medium term technical issues to ensure maximum and sustainable profitability of the business whilst maintaining a safety behaviour and cost commitment consistent with the Newcrest values.

Accountabilities

  • Develops detailed understanding of the process flow sheets and operation of Red Chris flotation circuit.
  • Mentoring Mill Operators in the optimal operation of the flotation area.
  • Assist with planning & delivery of budget revenue for assigned plant area by meeting or exceeding gold, copper and sand production targets.
  • Assist with minimising Red Chris Mill Operations cost base by strategically minimising media and reagent consumption. Maintain discipline by accurate reporting of consumption rates.
  • Support accuracy and reliability of plant instruments for process and metallurgical accounting.
  • Coordinate site visits from suppliers and consultants to ensure operation of assigned plant area meets best metallurgical and operational practice.
  • Complete daily & monthly metallurgical accounting duties as required.
  • An active involvement in processing plant commissioning tasks, providing robust product for the operating team and delivering on expected performance gains.
  • Identification and rapid implementation of improvement opportunities, actively seeking opportunities for increased free cash flow and reduced costs.
  • Exhibit the NewSafe behaviours and actively undertake safety interactions out in the field.
  • Actively look for an rectify hazards present in the field.
  • Prepares scopes and carries out laboratory and plant test work as required.
  • Maintain regular updates to Wave initiatives. Schedule the work as planned and advise of any threats to meeting the planned timelines.
  • Attend required daily operational, metallurgical and safety meetings
  • Cover absences of other plant metallurgist’s areas as required.
  • Ensures all activities are carried out consistent with : Safe working practices and individual competencies;OHS legislation, the Company Safety Management System, and Environmental plans;

About You

Position requirements include, but are not limited to :

Education / Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with Newmont Values
  • Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
  • High attention to detail in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Completer / Finisher with demonstrated ability to approach tasks with tenacity and deliver to high standard..
  • High level of commitment to improving the business through continuous improvement.
  • A demonstrated ability to work constructively and effectively with all internal and external stakeholders

Experience

  • Preferably years exposure to mineral processing operations.
  • Knowledge of copper flotation.
  • Exposure to SAG milling and Flotation Unit processes within the base metals industry for part of that time.
