Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Senior Process Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing Summit Nanotech's technology from the demonstration plant stage to pre-commercialization and commercialization.

You will have a strong fundamental understanding of inorganic chemical process engineering and, ideally, experience extracting metals from brines.

You will have experience working at industrial-scale plants and understand the challenges of scaling up chemical processes, managing recycle streams and minimizing waste

Application Engineering :

• Support for commercialization / sales responding to RFQs / RFIs
• Mass and energy balance projections
• Water usage reduction strategies
• Technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal teams and external stakeholders

DLE Process Detailed Design :

• Process optimization to increase lithium recovery and impurity rejections
• Commercial column design and system modularization
• Innovations and best practices for DLE and hydrometallurgical processes in process design

Commercial Plant Design :

• Design and development of direct lithium extraction process flowsheet from brines all the way to lithium carbonate production
• Design basis, BFDs, and PFDs
• Process design trade-off studies to optimize Capex and Opex
• Detailed design calculations; equipment sizing, hydraulic design, and production of equipment lists and specifica tions.

Position Requirements

• Process engineering, metallurgic engineering or chemical engineering degree, or experience commensurate with degree and experience requirements
• Solid understanding of inorganic chemistry
• Minimum of 7 years experience in chemical process engineering
• Minimum of 3 years experience applying chemical process engineering at a pre-commercial or commercial scale
• Experience taking the lead in developing integrated chemical processing flowsheets
• Innovative and flexible mindset

Bonus :

• Direct experience with hydrometallurgy and / or metal extraction processes
• Know-how of unit operation processes for filtration, ion exchange, advanced RO, evaporation, precipitation, crystallization, centrifugation, and drying
• Registered Professional Engineer or working towards
• Ability to communicate (oral and written) in Spanish
• CAD skills 2D and 3D
• Modelling experience using SysCAD and SuperPro
• Located in one of Summit Nanotech’s country HQs (Calgary, Colorado, or Santiago)
