First Cook

Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler, BC is currently looking for a qualified First Cook to join our team.

Reports to : Executive Chef & Sous Chefs

Position Summary

The First Cook is a key member of the culinary brigade who is responsible for the execution of high-quality food in a consistent manner. The First Cook must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment while maintaining strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and provide guidance to junior cooks and kitchen helpers.

Job Duties :

• Prepare and cook food ordered in the restaurant and lounge in a timely manner.
• Set up a workstation, restock food items throughout the shift and prep food items.
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specs.
• Supervise junior cooks and kitchen helpers to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Train junior cooks and kitchen helpers in preparation, of food.
• Manage kitchen operations.
• Prep and cook food for events, café and restaurants.
• Clean kitchen and work areas and maintain proper food safety and sanitary standards.
• Work with the front of house team to ensure pacing and any special guest requests are met (including allergies and food intolerances).
• Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.

Employment Term : Full-time, Permanent

Language of Work : English

Wage : $23.00-C$25.00 per hour (depending on skill sets)

Work Hours : 32-40 hours per week

Vacation : 4% vacation accrual
