Job Description :

The Manager of IT Network and Voice Operations, reports to the Associate Director of IT Operations in the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department.

This position works with various stakeholders of the College to develop, revise and carry out operations, maintenance and improvements to the College’s integrated voice and network IT infrastructure and its interface with the outside world via the WAN / LAN networks in order to meet the College’s vision and strategy.

The incumbent works with the College Community to identify and create opportunities to leverage existing and emerging technologies (e.

g. unified communication technologies) to improve the service and efficiency of the organization. Working in conjunction with the ITS Management team, the incumbent ensures that policies, procedures, processes and client service delivery is consistent and seamless across teams for service delivery.

The Manager, IT Network and Voice Operations manages the monitoring and analysis of service metrics related to the Internet, wired and wireless networks, point of sale network and other critical voice IT infrastructure systems, and is proactive in adhering to the platforms SLA.

The incumbent manages the College’s 9 IT data and voice infrastructure technicians, $4M operating budget and the associated operations, maintenance and improvements to ensure that the voice infrastructure and network supports all College activities appropriately.

The Manager, IT Network and Voice Operations carries out all the agreed-upon capital projects, usually approximately $1-2M per year, delivering the functionality on time and within budget.

They also provide planning and strategic input into the College’s IT Operating Plans.

Required Qualifications :

  • Minimum of three (3) year Diploma / Degree in Computer Science / Systems / Engineering / Information Systems or a degree in business with experience in Information Technology;
  • Cisco Networking certification (CCIE, CCNA etc) or PMP or ITIL is preferred;
  • Comprehensive understanding of leased telecommunications voice and data wide area networks;

A minimum of 9 years experience is required in the following areas :

  • Advanced understanding of networking in a complex and distributed organization;
  • Advanced understanding of telephony in a complex environment;
  • Advanced understanding of storage, backups, and related technologies in a complex environment;
  • Advanced understanding of wireless networking solutions;
  • Advanced understanding of IT security risks and mitigation strategies;

Progressive management experience of an IT / IS technical support organization with extensive front-line client service experience and experience delivering in a tiered response environment including :

  • Leading teams that support enterprise business critical applications, preferably in a custom developed enterprise systems environment;
  • Managing business analysis and development, including financial analysis, management and development of Management Information Systems, with preference for experience in providing integrated information technology support to medium sized corporation executives and users;
  • Experience with cloud technologies, hybrid architectures, and their impact on traditional data centres;
  • Experience with Post-Secondary Education preferred;
  • Experience in managing personnel, operations and capital budgets in excess of $6M annually;
  • Ability to work effectively with upper management, peers and front-line staff;
  • Ability to provide presentations to senior executives about technical service delivery strategies, issues and options;
