This role can be based out of one our main offices including : Stellarton, NS; Mississauga, ON.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing :

As a Manager Data Standards Quality & Governance with Sobeys you will :

  • Lead team to improve Domain data through established Data Governance, data quality measurement, improved Data quality and redesign of business / technical process to maintain data integrity.
  • Conduct ongoing prioritization and road-mapping with the functional business teams for Data Quality and Governance program.
  • Conduct formal annual reviews of program progress and establish targets for following year.
  • Identify opportunities for Data Quality improvement initiatives with business partners to address quality trouble areas.
  • Track adoption of Data Governance processes and compliance with established standards.
  • Help business teams define new processes or update existing processes to build and maintain integrity in their data assets.
  • Establish cadence and communication strategy to share progress with Business leaders.
  • Design and implement Data Ownership program including training and onboarding for new data owners; drive adoption and active engagement in the business.
  • Ensure completion of investigation of Data Quality root causes and get remediation strategies in place.
  • Track and measure overall progress in Data Quality improvement, active Data Governance and establishment of standards and policies.
  • Engage and direct Data Governance and Data Engineering for required tasks.
  • Identify business owners to execute data correction activities; engage correct business teams who may need to update their business processes to mediate data quality issues.
  • Liaise with IT Product owners if data cleansing tasks require their involvement.
  • Communication of approach, dependencies, risks and progress of data tasks.
  • Support business data owners and stewards in Data Governance and quality tracking tasks.
  • Works with business teams to define data standards and policies, business teams to implement any process changes needed within their processes.
  • Business data owners to complete data cleansing tasks to implement standards defined together with EDO team.

  • 4+ years leading large, diverse teams (coaching, mentoring, guidance and support, creating an engaging work environment).
  • Experience leading or supporting program development including experience partnering with multiple stakeholders across an organization, such as various lines of business, information technology, architecture and operations.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to align with teams across business areas while influencing decisions with more senior level audiences.
  • The ability to translate ambiguous business problems into a clear concise business case and structured project / program.
  • Able to identify and proactively consider opportunities outside of conventional thinking to resolve problems and address gaps.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of privacy or data governance concepts.
  • Experience with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

Great-to-haves

  • Industry experience working in Data Lifecycle Management (Records Management), Data Governance, program delivery and development in a large organization.
  • Experience with Informatica Data Quality (IDQ), including development & sustainment of IDQ mappings, rules, profiles, and scorecards or equivalent experience with similar platforms.

As well as experience with Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) and Axon would be a great asset.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure ADLS, Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica or similar with knowledge of data modeling, data architecture and data structures.
  • Understanding of Retail Merchandising data including Article, Planogram.
  • Experience working in a large retail organization.
  • Knowledge of effective data management practices (governance, data quality, data engineering, data standards)
  • Bilingualism in English & French, verbal and / or written.
  • The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada.
