Janitor / Maintenance Worker

Adecco is currently seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our respected client, a member of the Assembly of First Nations, as a full-time Janitor / Maintenance Worker in Gold River, BC.

• Pay Rate : up to $52,000 / Year
• Location : Gold River, BC
• Shift : Day

• Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs
• Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove scraps, dirt, heavy debris and other refuse
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers
• Wash windows, interior walls and ceilings
• Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs
• Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
• Water and tend to plants, lawns and / or gardens
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures
• Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas
• Ensure the proper maintenance and cleaning of equipment and tools before and after each use.
• At all times, work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures and requirements.
• Provide recommendations regarding equipment purchases and request all supplies and material needed for effective department operation.
• May serve on various employee and / or other committees as assigned.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs for a hotel owned by our client in Gold River. Requirements and Qualifications :
• Grade 12 education is required
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience as Commercial Janitor
• Experience working with First Nations is an asset
• Relevant certificates, licenses, and tickets as required.
• Ability to work independently without supervision and in a team environment where mutual support is essential
• Ability to deal with individuals in varying situations where complex, high pressure, difficult decisions, or emergencies may occur
• Interact with others in a tactful, compassionate, and sensitive manner
• Ability to identify and respond to sensitive community, organizational issues, concerns, and needs
• High level of competency in computer software including MS Office - Word and Excel
• Effective verbal, written and presentation communication skills
