As an Operations Engineer in Training, you will assist the Wastewater Collection Operational Engineering Team with field inspections, project management & controls, and daily support to the repair crews. Primary duties include :
- Apply engineering theory, prepare and check designs or engineering interpretations, and collect, review, create, and analyze technical data and information.
- Drive to active construction and work sites, develop the ability recognize limitations in designs, interpretations or recommendations, and apply codes and regulations.
- Prepare written technical and benchmarking reports, recommendations, memorandums and present to management, peers, project partners and the public.
Qualifications
A completed degree in Civil Engineering and registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) by the first day of work.Submission of Professional Engineer ( application to APEGA prior to, or within three (3) months from the start date.A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.Use of a personal vehicle for work or eligible transportation to access remote work sites is required.Ability to obtain a City of Calgary Operator's Permit.Experience working with municipal water and wastewater gravity-driven or pressurized utility systems.Experience working with and / or managing third-party service providers.Proficiency with ArcGIS and SQL would be considered an asset.Success in this position requires a strong commitment to continuous learning, an analytical mindset, well-developed communication skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and a focus on problem solving.
