A growing real estate services organization is seeking a Controller to lead its property management accounting function. About the Role
Reporting into a senior finance leader, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the full accounting and financial operations related to a diversified property management portfolio. The role combines team leadership with technical oversight, supporting accurate reporting, budgeting, cash management, and property‑level decision‑making.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, mentor, and support a team across property accounting, AP, and AR
- Oversee month‑end close, reconciliations, trust accounting, and financial controls
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for stakeholders
- Manage cash flow, forecasts, and owner distributions across multiple properties
- Review annual operating budgets and CAM reconciliations
- Partner closely with operational teams to resolve issues and support informed decisions
- Support internal and external audits, including regulatory trust audits
- Lead financial onboarding and offboarding of properties
- Improve accounting processes, workflows, and reporting accuracy as the portfolio scales
What You Bring
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within property management or real estateStrong working knowledge of CAM reconciliations and lease structuresExperience leading or mentoring accounting teamsHands‑on systems experience; exposure to property management platforms is an asset but not requiredCPA designation preferred but not mandatoryStrong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindsetComfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands‑on executionWhy Join
