Group Financial Controls Specialist
Location : Hybrid - York Mills or Kingston

As a Group Financial Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of Group’s financial systems, processes and reports.

What you’ll be working on
- Helps define, implement, test, maintain and support processes and appropriate controls for financial transactions
- Identifies potential risks and control deficiencies, and recommends appropriate actions to mitigate these risks
- Accurate and timely completion of account reconciliations for the Group Finance and Controls Division
- Regular in-depth review of complex reconciliations for all Group accounts and resolving financial discrepancies and errors
- Acts as a subject matter expert and technical liaison for Administrative Service Only (ASO) product and develops controls / processes for new or changing ASO arrangements
- Actively manages ASO month end balancing and reconciliations processes
- Verifies and corrects journal entries, ledger balances and other financial data, coordinating with other business units when necessary
- Compiles data from various sources and supports the month-end close process, including accruals, adjustments and month-end analysis for various accounts.
- Monitor, review, analyze and reconcile GL accounts to ensure accuracy and proactively identify and report on variances.
- Supports the design and implementation of controls for new product lines.
- Collaborates with internal and external auditors and submits necessary data / documents
- Stays up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in financial controls
- Work with other Finance team members to continuously improve and automate team processes and templates
- Work on Ad-hoc tasks as required
What we’re looking for you to have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Professional designation (e.g CPA, CFA, ASA) or working towards a designation is an asset
- 3-5 years experience in financial analysis, auditing, or financial controls
- Knowledge of group benefit contracts and products
- General ledger and transactional accounting experience is an asset
- Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet and database software
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Microsoft Suite - Excel and Access
