Our Geography

Brock University’s Teacher Education Program is located on two campuses. Brock University’s St. Catharines campus is situated atop the Niagara Escarpment, within a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, overlooking the city of St.

About the Position

The Faculty of Education invites applications for an Instructional Limited Term Appointment in the Department of Educational Studies in the area of Indigenous Educational Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor / Lecturer.

The Department offers a wide range of education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The two year appointment, subject to budgetary approval, will commence July 1, .

The successful candidate will hold a relevant PhD or a Masters degree with equivalent Indigenous knowledge. The graduate degree must be in Education or Indigenous Studies with a focus on education or any relevant discipline that focuses on education and Indigeneity.

Ideal candidates will have an extensive personal background with and knowledge of Turtle Island Indigenous culture, history, and issues (i.

e., Turtle Island Indigenous history and educational or governmental policy affecting Turtle Island Indigenous students, families, and communities).

An understanding of or experience with education in Ontario, and experience in teaching adult education and / or pre-K to 12 would be an asset.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to decolonization, reconciliation, anti-racism, and social and ecological justice issues.

The ideal candidate will be of the Indigenous ancestry and will have clear connection to the Indigenous community.
