Job description

Position Purpose and Summary

The Digital Course Production Associate gives leadership to the production of courses and provides engaging learning experiences in online and / or multi-access learning environments. The Digital Course Production Associate will ensure that course materials are accessible in multiple digital formats and follow web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG). The incumbent will play an important role in the provision of core services as part of the TWU GLOBAL Online team in a timely fashion to meet the curricular goals of the TWU Strategic Plan.

Key Areas of Accountability

  • Consult with the Online Team, including instructional designers, media specialists, and student workers etc., to produce online and multi-access courses that provide effective, inquiry-based learning experiences to meet specified course learning outcomes;
  • Work with media team to create, adapt, or use digital media resources to support student learning
  • In cooperation with the Senior Learning Technologist, ensure that course websites are functional and stable across devices and in low bandwidth contexts.
  • Provide efficient and effective project management, documentation, and file management procedures;
  • Ensure timely and professional communication with all stakeholders related to course production;
  • Collaborate with the Equity of Access office at TWU to support the development of a digital learning environment that is accessible and inclusive for all students and faculty.

The Person

Skills and Abilities

  • Expert working knowledge of Moodle and WordPress.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Proven work experience as a Web Designer developing new and maintaining existing websites
  • Knowledge of code repositories.
  • Experience in UX / UI design in higher education learning environments.
  • Familiarity with the roles of teaching and learning in an online educational context as supported in current research;
  • Awareness of intercultural relations and environments, cultural sensitivity, and international students
  • Proficient in navigating and administering digital learning environments;
  • Ability to learn and engage with TWU Online’s cloud-based digital workflow;
  • Able to provide support to instructors, subject matter experts and instructional designers.;
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant stakeholders;
  • Able to work independently with limited direction;
  • Able to exhibit a professional attitude and image with a commitment to quality service;

    Standards & Requirements

    Education : Bachelor’s degree in online education, instructional design, or a relevant discipline;

    Experience :

  • Minimum 2 years related experience
  • Building highly interactive, inquiry-based, community-oriented course websites in non-traditional digital learning environments;
  • Managing projects where timelines, cost controls, and bottom-line results were expected and achieved;
  • Working with multiple course production projects simultaneously and navigating multiple competing priorities;
  • Experience with a wide variety of digital learning environments (e.g. Moodle, WordPress, web conferencing);
  • Creating or adapting digital media assets for use in digital learning environments.
