Salary Range : $54,116.77 - $59,479.69

Location : Toronto, Yonge & Eglinton (on the Yonge subway line)

Overview :

TVO is seeking a candidate with a quality assurance mindset and software development lifecycle knowledge to ensure quality throughout the development process of digital products. With backgrounds in Law, education and anatomy to name a few, our Quality Assurance team brings unique and broad perspectives to the position.

How you will make an impact :

  • Review business requirements with cross-functional Teams
  • Follow established QA standards and practices in all aspects of QA testing lifecycle
  • Familiarity with various testing methodologies such as manual, automated, regression testing. Understanding when and how to apply different testing techniques.
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) Manager and cross functional team members in the creation of test plans / test strategy
  • Create and execute manual test cases along with test data
  • Log defects and produce bug reports (Clear and concise bug reports)
  • Keen eye for detail to identify bugs, inconsistencies and usability issues
  • Perform root-cause analysis / troubleshooting with the project team
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings, provide QA status updates, assessing go-live readiness and product release process
  • Participate in project closure activities
  • Provide on-going support for live applications
  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
  • Identify and support process improvements leading to higher quality standards

What you will bring to TVO

  • Three year diploma / degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • 5 years of experience in the Quality Assurance domain testing mobile applications, learning management or student record systems, websites and web tools
  • Demonstrated experience in game testing, including mechanics, interface, accessibility, and overall functionality considered an asset.
  • Solid QA experience in understanding business concepts, systems integration, deployment verification, and being able to accurately define Test Plans, Test Cases & Test Strategy with a “break the system” mindset.
  • Ability to execute test cases with a strong level of competency in various test environments and understand the purpose of the testing in the environment.
  • Experience reviewing business, software requirements documents, documenting and logging defects
  • Knowledge and use of test management and defect tracking tools such as TFS, JIRA and Target Process
  • Proven knowledge of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification preferred
  • Basic SQL knowledge
  • Experience with API testing an asset
  • Familiarity with UAT testing or training
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills to meet project timelines without compromising quality, with a proven ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Strong attention to detail, focus on accuracy and responsiveness, as well as end user impact
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, shows initiative and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to focus on the Customer and Client experience
  • Strong overall communication skills both verbal and written
  • Clearly articulate testing findings, raise concerns and suggest improvements.
  • Experience with automated test development and execution is an asset
