Responsibilities
- Able to read / understand construction plans
- Responsible for operating heavy equipment at construction sites in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
- Clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by AFL policies and procedures.
- Perform pre‑shift inspections, change attachments, lubricate, and refill equipment while performing other site duties as assigned.
- Properly reports any mechanical or safety problems with the equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Proactively communicate with foreman, superintendent and coworkers.
- Complete, reporting, and other documentation as required.
- Heavy equipment operated at AFL include, but are not limited to, backhoes, track‑hoe, skid steers, etc.
- Perform other site duties or functions, consistent with status or vocational ability as may be required from time to time.
- Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public.
- Represent AFL to the public in a manner that is consistent with corporate values and goals.
- Lead by example.
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

1+ year of construction experienceExperience in Utility Construction – ASSETAbility to understand and work with Utility locates.Capable of working in all temperatures and climates and in confined spacesAbility to travel to various site‑based projects if requiredProficiency in driving with a loaded trailer an asset.Working Conditions
