Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Field Activities

  • Complete field activities in accordance with established health and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and complete fieldwork for contaminated sites projects, including Phase I, II & III Environmental Site Assessments, hydrogeological investigations, and remediation programs.

Tasks to include site inspections, soil / groundwater / surface water / sediment / soil vapour sampling, hydraulic conductivity testing, and subcontractor supervision during drilling and test pit investigations and remedial excavation programs.

  • Coordinate and complete designated hazardous substance surveys including asbestos and lead sampling and assist in air emissions testing programs.
  • Complete documentation of field activities, site health and safety meetings, and chain of custody forms.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain project specific field equipment.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figures including data tables and borehole / test pit logs.
  • Assist project managers, engineers, environmental scientists and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A diploma in environmental or civil engineering technology, degree in environmental sciences, degree in engineering, or a related environmental fields.
  • Strong work ethic with genuine interest in environmental consulting and field work.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office . Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work remotely in the field for up to two weeks.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to work alone in the field with guided direction or partial supervision.

Experience

Experience in any of the following would be considered an asset :

Phased Environmental Site Assessment and remediation and / or hazardous building material surveys.Soil and groundwater sampling.

Knowledge in several of : geology, hydrogeology, environmental sampling procedures, environmental chemistry, site characterization, waste management, remediation, and health and safety.

Knowledge of relevant provincial, and federal environmental legislation and policies.Proficiency in ESdat, Surfer, gINT, AutoCAD, or GIS.

Training

The successful candidate may be asked to mobilize to Manitoba for a two-week duration to be trained on drilling and groundwater monitoring projects.
