Assistant Lecturer - Cytogenetics

This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).

This position has an initial appointment of 6 months. Salary will be commensurate with experience in accordance with Schedule D of the Collective Agreement between the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta and the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta.

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

This role is a term position to prepare materials for, and to teach, a graduate-level cytogenetics course (LABMP 586) for the Molecular Diagnostics course-based MSc program within the department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology, which will be offered in Spring / Summer 2026.

This laboratory simulation course covers topics including specimen preparation, culture, harvest, slide preparation and staining. This course will focus on the analysis of constitutive and somatic abnormalities and the correct utilization of ISCN nomenclature. This course will utilize an external online platform for karyotyping.

This position is fully in person. Work will take place onsite on North Campus, Clinical Sciences Building and Kipnes Academy.
