Wood is seeking a Mechanical Designerto join our Minerals & Metals team. Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this position is located at our Saskatoon, SK office. The Mechanical / Piping Designer will be contributing to engineering excellence by providing the link between engineering design theory and practical application, translating critical design concepts into workable plans for tangible end-products.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Provide layout support and design of piping systems for potash and uranium plants and related infrastructure. This includes
• mechanical equipment, building services/HVAC, and piping.
• Design and drafting of equipment and piping systems in 2D and 3D drawing environments
• Prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
• Prepare mechanical drawings, diagrams, and/or models of various equipment, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design(CADD) software.
• Attend project meetings and discussions with the client and staff
• Develop and maintain positive & sustainable relationships within our team and with clients
• Work as part of a multidiscipline engineering team

Expected:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Engineering Design & Drafting Technology
• 0 – 5 years of relevant industrial and/or mining design experience.
• Proven experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and/or AVEVA E3D software and excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting.
• Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
• Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
• Other mining and potash experience,
• Piping, materials handling, and / or HVAC experience,
• Able to perform calculations for detailed equipment design, such as for tanks, chute work, and launders, or Experience with project controls, budgets and schedules within an engineering consulting environment
