Job Summary
The CAD Drafter will aid in the development of scaled design plans with grading, paving, drainage and other related engineering materials as part of contract engineering drawings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Have a working knowledge of CAD standards, Civil 3D features and annotation styles, line styles, sheet set manager and drawing setup
- General understanding of survey practices, including georeferencing utilizing grid / ground
- Demonstrated proficiency in the development of 2D civil design drawings and a working knowledge of 3D design concepts
- Experience working with engineers and senior designers
Typical Design will Consist of :
Under limited supervision, uses CAD programs and tools to capture, create, update and maintain design data; interprets and clarifies engineer redlines, design notes, and as-built drawings;
ensures the completeness and accuracy of all work completed
- Must be able to modify existing drawings to minimize the need to create new drawings and create new drawings when necessary, in a timely fashion, which meet internal standards
- Understand & meet project schedule, and quality requirements with accuracy and efficiency
- Self-checks all work performed to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to internal review
- Actively assist in the delivery of a complete project. This may include phone or e-mail correspondence, attending meetings, and other project documents required for project completion
Qualifications
Education
Completion of technical school with CAD design certificate or associate degree or equivalent experience in Engineering field desire
Experience Required
- 2 or more years of AutoCAD and engineering design with a professional civil design / consulting firm or comparable experience
- Exposure to steel, concrete, and mechanical design preferred
Qualifications Required
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, construction, and civil plans
- Understanding of engineering principles and assembly, fabrication, and construction workflows
- Knowledge of project management software and computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Procore
- Organized team player with a willingness to learn and expand capabilities
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment dedicated to meeting deadlines
