WORKPLACE

The official workplace for the positions to be filled is our regional office located at 1138 Melville Street in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia.

Successful candidates will be required to maintain a presence at the Vancouver site. A part-time telework agreement (in a hybrid work mode) may be discussed and implemented at the time of hiring in accordance with the operational needs of the position to be filled.

Duties

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the coordination and provision of comprehensive administrative support services, including scheduling and correspondence, to a Director.

He / she will coordinate various committees and meetings. He / she will be responsible for communicating information and following up on files and requests on behalf of management.

In addition, he / she will perform various tasks such as : managing electronic documents, processing e-mails, correspondence and reports, including those relating to finance and human resources.

Intent of the process

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) supports various initiatives to recruit, retain and promote Indigenous employees. This is a continuous intake inventory to create and maintain an inventory for future opportunities for Indigenous persons.

Our organization is constantly growing and always looking for talented individuals to join our team. Our plan is to select submitted applications from the inventory on May 3, 2024;

July 14, 2024; and July 17, 2024.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar and lower level positions with various tenures, operational requirements, conditions of employment and / or security clearances.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION :

A secondary school diploma

An acceptable combination of education, training and experience*

This combination will include your successful completion of grade 10 in addition to one year cumulative experience providing administrative support and / or preforming clerical functions.

This may include, but not limited to : data entry, filing, answering telephone calls, preparing written correspondence, receptionist duties.

Experience can be gained through work, school, cultural and life experiences, community / volunteer work

In addition, if you have training other than high school, this may also be considered for education.

EXPERIENCE :

  • Significant* experience in providing administrative services in an office environment.
  • Significant* experience in prioritizing multiple, competing deadlines.
  • Significant* experience in providing information to customers or clients or management.

Significant* experience is defined as experience that would normally be acquired over a period of at least one year.
