Our confidential client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their leadership team.

Reporting to the CEO, this key role is responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and control of all finance-related activities of the company.

In addition, the CFO will provide executive oversight over the human resources function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to Finance and HR Teams.
  • Accountable for financial accounting, financial planning & analysis, credit, treasury, payroll, and HR functions.
  • Develop and implement Finance and HR improvements aligned with the company’s broader vision and goals.
  • Monitor business performance, identify performance hot spots, and drive necessary corrective measures; provide visibility on progress to ownership and the senior leadership team.
  • Lead financial & KPI reviews during senior leadership team meetings.
  • Act as the steward of the company’s profitability, ensuring alignment with shareholder objectives.
  • Participate in the development of the business strategy for both the main company and associated real estate entities.
  • Lead the execution of key strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Manage and ensure sufficient cash flow for the organization's operations, and secure debt and other financing as needed.
  • Optimize tax strategies for the company, wider business entities, and family members.
  • Ensure alignment between credit policies and practices with the company's risk appetite and manage escalated credit scenarios effectively.
  • Act as a servant leader to the business, oversee key employee engagement initiatives.
  • Own banking, insurance, and legal partner relationships.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Guide significant financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate insurance coverage for all aspects of the business.
  • Identify and mitigate key risks in the company's risk profile.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation or MBA
  • Over 15 years of finance experience.
  • Proven experience as a CFO or similar senior finance role.
  • Experience overseeing HR.
  • Experience within a comparable industry.
  • Proven experience in partnering with an executive team.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Corporate development experience is an asset.
  • Real estate development experience is an asset.
