They are looking for a full-time Director of Farm Operations to join their team based in Vaudreuil, Quebec. This is an on-site position.
The Director of Farm Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling activities to achieve maximum profitability.
This role involves collaborating with team members, acting as a strategic business partner, and addressing key organizational and management issues.
Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include :
- Coordinating and supervising team activities.
- Adhering to structured processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and consistency in operations.
- Overseeing growing, harvesting, and crop-related operations.
- Developing work schedules, establishing procedures, and attending regular meetings.
- Maintaining quality control and production records.
- Ensuring workers follow health and safety procedures.
- Training new employees and assisting workers as needed.
- Overseeing produce handling to meet high quality standards.
- Supporting team knowledge acquisition on best practices in record management and crop maintenance.
- Learning and understanding the organization’s farming technology and procedures.
- Addressing issues and reporting to Senior Leadership to improve processes and mitigate risks.
- Supporting material distribution.
- Performing other assigned duties.
Qualifications :
- Minimum of 5 years of process-driven management experience.
- Proven experience in managing and leading teams, with strong skills in coaching, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working independently, thinking critically, and exercising delegated decision-making.
- Strong problem-solving skills, innovative thinker, proactive and flexible.
- Must be comfortable with learning and adapting to new technologies.
- Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science, or related field preferred.
- Expertise in plant cultivation, plant nutrition, or commercial propagation an asset.
- Experience with scheduling, crop maintenance, and R&D trials an asset.
- Knowledge of Health Canada regulations an asset.
