Senior Project Manager – Manufacturing
Reporting to the Director, Global Project Management & Engineering Systems, the Senior Project Manager – Manufacturing will be accountable to manage the successful and on‑time launch of new and / or improved products meeting project objectives (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Function, Scope). The role works in close collaboration with the assigned cross‑functional team; including championing and executing product / process change notices.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Responsible for overall project planning & execution, including design, development, budget, feasibility, planning, scheduling, reporting, and managing the master launch schedule(s) for relevant assigned products.
- Actively participates in the engineering production runs and design reviews for new products to understand the product design, status, and potential challenges.
- Partners with the CFT to ensure design feasibility, cost targets, successful execution of process and production runs, quality products, project timing and project risks; chairs CFT meetings from Gate 2 onward and supports Product Management in Gates 0 & 1.
- Ensures products are launched on time by analyzing the launch process, ensuring system readiness and resource and component availability; forecasts new product availability dates and communicates any changes in plan; where variances exist create, align and execute recovery plans.
- Plans and manages all required tasks with cross‑function necessary to achieve flawless launch, including parts set‑up in ERP, open issues from process build, long‑lead‑time parts, PPAPs and first offs coordination, cost implosion completion, and all stage‑gate tasks.
- Plans and executes the production run in direct collaboration with the operations team, ensuring thorough readiness reviews are conducted at least 7 business days prior, and 48 hours prior to the run; supports production during the run and records opportunities for improvement.
- Manages the project open issues list and works with department administrator and all stakeholders to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of activities; analyzes trends and suggests corrective actions.
- Tracks and actively manages change notices (CN’s) during the first 12 months, working with R&D to determine technical feasibility and financial business case; creates and monitors required actions for implementation.
- Participates in project milestone review meetings and provides input following GNPMS standard processes or best practices.
- Creates and reviews project and sub‑project timelines to plan, analyze and manage on‑time launches; champions the department project schedule template; coordinates purchased components kick‑off and approval.
- Collaborates closely with manufacturing engineering to ensure products are evaluated for suitability for hard tooling prior to production freeze and supports introduction of hard‑tooled parts post‑launch.
- Works closely with purchasing and quality during the supplier selection process to maintain feasible launch schedules; develops recovery plans and countermeasures with suppliers as necessary.
Education and Experience Requirements
Three‑year college diploma in Engineering (or directly related subject).Minimum of 7 years of applicable work experience in an engineering or production environment with a minimum of 5 years of significant engineering / manufacturing projects / program management experience.Certificate or diploma in Project Management (or PMP registration) is an asset.Diploma in business administration is an asset.Demonstrated business acumen – experience with P&L management, recovery plan recommendations, make‑vs‑buy analysis, and strategic direction for projects.Experience with MS Office, MS Project or Monday.com is an asset.Broad understanding of design, manufacturing, and assembly processes with experience in metal stamping and / or fabrication.Understanding of Hearth / Grills / HVAC products would be advantageous.Demonstrated ability to achieve results through negotiating, influencing, and aligning individuals and cross‑functional departments.English written and spoken proficiency.Compensation
Competitive salary range of $108,800 – $150,000, depending on experience. Compensation is reviewed annually and may be adjusted to remain aligned with market trends.Location of Work
