Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Decisions and Pricing Foundations)

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Decisions and Pricing Foundations team at Affirm . The team owns the foundational Underwriting Engine, modernizing and optimizing underwriting capabilities for a growing number of consumers and merchants while maintaining high availability and excellent economics.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open‑ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ideate, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
• Identify project, process, technology, or business issues proactively, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on‑call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, advocating for them beyond the team through writing and tech talks.
• Help develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance, leading by example.
