Position Summary
Title : Outreach Nurse
Contract : until Mar 31, 2024
Hours : 30 hours
Location : Park Royal - Lillooet
About the role
As the Outreach Nurse, you will deliver professional nursing and educational support in relation to mental health and substance use.
You will provide direct support to improve nursing practice standards in communities with a focus on the activity of RN / RPN prescribing of opiate agonist treatment and addressing the toxic drug crisis.
You will have the opportunity to travel to different communities, liase with different teams, and be at the forefront of new nursing practice.
And be part of a team which has a focus on wellness and connection.
Qualifications
About you
To be successful in this role you will have / be
- Bachelor’s degree in registered nursing or bachelor’s degree or diploma in psychiatric nursing, from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Additional training and education related to substance use, harm reduction, mental health and trauma informed practice.
- Completion of BCCSU RN / RPN Prescribing Education Program is an asset
- You may have;
- Three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse (RN) or registered psychiatric nurse (RPN) providing clinical practice support in primary care, community and / or public health nursing or acute care, ambulatory care and / or outpatient centres
- Two (2) years of experience caring for clients with harm reduction and substance use concerns
