SUMMARY
This role is accountable for managing the most complex and critical leases within the portfolio, conducting rigorous desktop audits, leading key reporting functions, and providing day-to-day leadership to junior team members.
The Team Lead, Lease Management operates as an extension of management—owning advanced lease interpretation, high-risk financial activities, and client-facing reporting—while developing future leaders through coaching and structured oversight. This role materially enhances portfolio governance, financial accuracy, and value creation through proactive audit and analytical rigor.
The Team Lead works in close collaboration with Managers to ensure operational excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the Lease Administration function.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Ownership and Regulatory Compliance
Comply with all internal and external requirements including environmental, health, safety, and regulatory obligations as mandated by BGIS and applicable legislation.Promote a culture of accuracy, diligence, and risk awareness within the team.Complex Portfolio Management
Own and manage the most complex and high-risk leases within the portfolio.Interpret intricate commercial lease clauses and financial mechanisms.Conduct comprehensive desktop audits to identify billing errors, non-compliance, and savings opportunities.Drive measurable value through cost avoidance, recoveries, and enhanced financial controls.Lease Abstraction & Data Governance
Conduct thorough and accurate lease abstracts for very complex sites.Review and approve lease profiles prepared by Analysts for less complex sites.Ensure abstraction accuracy for complex leases and critical data fields.Maintain overall data integrity within the lease management system for assigned portfolios .Rent & Invoice Oversight
Review and approve invoices and payments under established thresholds (.,Validate financial accuracy and lease compliance prior to payment.Escalate anomalies and systemic risks to Management.Reporting & Analytics Leadership
Serve as primary owner for key lease administration reports to clients.Analyze portfolio trends, variances, and anomalies.Respond to complex client inquiries with clear financial and contractual explanations.Participate in the testing and development of BI and reporting tools.People Leadership
Directly manage 1–2 Lease Analysts.Conduct regular 1 : 1 coaching sessions focused on technical skill development and professional growth.Perform performance reviews in collaboration with Managers.Train new and junior staff on systems, processes, and best practices.Actively develop successors for senior lease analyst roles.Process Improvement & Governance
Maintain and enhance lease administration policies and procedures.Identify inefficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives.Standardize audit, abstraction, and reporting practices.Client Engagement
Support Managers in client meetings and communications.Lead meetings in the absence of Managers when required.Prepare meeting materials, minutes, and action tracking.Act as a trusted operational resource for client stakeholders.KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
College / University degree in Business Admin, Commerce, or equivalent training (. RPA, CET).5–10 years in Lease Administration, Real Estate Accounting, or Property Management with exposure to commercial leases.Advanced Microsoft Excel.Lease administration platforms (., RealLease, MRI, Nakisa, Lucernex, YardiBI / reporting tool experience an asset.Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial leases.Advanced commercial lease interpretation.Desktop audit and financial analysis expertise.Strong reporting and analytical capability.Leadership and coaching aptitude.High attention to detail and data governance discipline.Ability to operate independently in high-risk environments.Client-ready communication skills.Ability to work independently and within a team to build relationships and interact effectively with business partners.Ability to multi-task, work successfully under pressure and effectively manage time and workloadProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).Bilingual in French / English is an asset.Licenses and / or Professional AccreditationReal Property Administrator designation would be considered an asset.This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $73,600 - $92,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education, professional designations and performance related to this role.
