The Psychiatry Residency Program Director is responsible for administering and maintaining an educational environment that promotes resident development in all ACGME competency areas. The Director reports directly to the Department Chair.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities) –
Assign a percentage to each function (total 100%) :
Administration & Academic Service - 50%
- Maintain a clinical and educational environment that promotes wellness, patient safety, and quality improvement. Oversee education quality across sites, approve local directors and faculty, monitor resident supervision, and ensure compliance with institutional and accreditation policies.
Teaching - 10%
Supervise residents and medical students, present grand rounds, and participate in didactic series.Service - 10%
Participate in institutional, departmental, and community committees.Clinical Practice - 30%
Maintain clinical services in inpatient consultation, outpatient clinics, or addiction services at Meharry Medical College and affiliated facilities.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Participation in professional organizations, administrative experience, supervision and assessment expertise, strong interpersonal skills, and scholarly work in psychiatry.Education and Experience
Medical degree, completed ACGME residency, board-certified psychiatrist, faculty experience, administrative experience, licensure, DEA, CPR, Buprenorphine Waiver, faculty appointment eligibility.Additional Details
