Position : Senior Fit & Spec Technician

Where you will work :

Are you looking to work in a stable and positive environment? Are you seeking for a fresh challenge? If so, our client, known for their great design-oriented craftsmanship, is looking for an extremely organized and talented Senior Fit & Spec Technician for its Montreal-based headquarters.

What you will do :

  • Need to assure consistency of the fit, quality, measurements and construction of each garment; report corrections to be made and record them on technical packages
  • Detailed specifications, trimming details, grading
  • Create initial specs based on pictures, samples, block patterns
  • Examine technical designer sketches ensuring garment is feasible; provide feedback
  • Ensure sample produces matches pattern and the original sketch; make corrections to size specification and details to achieve desired fit and look
  • Identify adjustments needed and communicate them clearly to vendors
  • Ensure required corrections from previous verifications have been made (measurements, explanation, picture and pattern as back up) with assigned deadlines
  • Assist in fitting sessions
  • Sending samples to customers
  • Review fabric, construction and quality
  • Modify and correct paper pattern by hand to show the factories how to achieve the desired fit
  • Respect timelines and delays; maintain effective communication with team members and perform tight follow ups
  • Communicate with overseas suppliers on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned

Who you are :

  • Fashion design diploma or similar
  • Experience in ladieswear and menswear apparel
  • Patternmaking knowledge and experience required (manual patterns); ability to work from both pattern blocks and sketches to convert a design concept into a cost-efficient garment
  • Good knowledge of fabrics; knits and woven
  • Good knowledge of the garment construction (including outerwear)
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite and Adobe Suite (MAC environment)
  • Detail Oriented and meticulous
  • Organized and able to identify priorities; work efficiently on tight calendar, meet deadlines and flexible to an ever changing environment
  • Ability to identify and solve problems in garment construction
  • Team spirit, positive and proactive approach
