Overview
The Digital Practice Leader (DPL) is responsible for advancing and optimizing the organization's engagement with technology related to the design, delivery, and execution of work. This involves implementing innovative approaches, applied technology, process changes, and automation, and guiding the BOU through various aspects of digital transformation. The DPL establishes the BOU’s technology strategy, collaborates with the innovation office and IT, and oversees digital practice experts within the team while influencing Digital practitioners across the BOU involved in business optimization, digital delivery, solution development, and practice support for client delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Acumen : Assess technical, operational, and economic factors to identify constraints or risks associated with proposals and development / implementation of digital tools and technologies.
- Assess the economic impact of digital initiatives, ensuring alignment with financial goals and delivering measurable ROI through business cases, budgeting, cost recovery models, and performance tracking.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of digital initiatives to meet expected outcomes and deliver a positive ROI, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Leadership, Facilitation, and Collaboration : Build and nurture strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including other BOU Digital Practice Leaders, and facilitate cross‑functional collaboration to drive digital initiatives forward.
- Develop a robust digital strategy for the BOU aligned with the overarching organizational goals, using advanced data analytics to inform strategic decisions, optimize processes, and drive innovation.
- Ensure digital governance, security, and privacy are maintained to the highest standards, establishing a framework to oversee the full lifecycle of digital transformation initiatives.
- Change Management : Work with key stakeholders across the BOU to identify and set standards for Digital Products / Assets / Solutions and maintain an up‑to‑date inventory communicated across the BOU and Stantec.
- Lead and manage the organizational change necessary to embed digital capabilities within the BOU’s operational DNA, including designing and implementing training initiatives to upskill employees.
- Forward Looking : Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, demands, and opportunities in the digital landscape within a consulting organization, analyzing competitor strategies and market dynamics.
- Regularly assess and adjust the strategy to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness within the evolving digital environment.
- Leverage digital tools and technologies to improve customer engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty by creating seamless and personalized experiences across all digital touchpoints.
- Undertake feasibility studies to determine the practicality and potential success of proposed digital initiatives.
Capabilities & Credentials
Comprehensive understanding of AEC digital technologies, including cloud computing, data analytics, AI, and cybersecurity; proficiency in aligning digital initiatives with long‑term BOU goals and industry trends.Exceptional leadership abilities, inspiring and guiding teams, managing stakeholder expectations, driving organizational change, and fostering stakeholder buy‑in.Experience managing digital budgets and resources, tracking and reporting performance of digital products / assets / solutions, and ensuring high standards in governance, cybersecurity, and compliance.Exceptional project management capabilities for delivering complex strategic projects; strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels within the organization.Hands‑on experience developing and implementing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technology strategies to future‑proof the business.Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of practice.Over 7 years of professional experience (AEC industry experience strongly preferred).Specialized experience in successfully implementing enterprise‑wide digital practice projects of strategic significance.Technical certifications relevant to the position.Pay Transparency
In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Compensation is based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles is pro‑rated.
