Position Description
The Disability Services Worker (DSW) reports to the Team Leader and facilitates education and development programs for adults with physical, behavioral, emotional and social needs. DSWs mentor, advocate and empower clients to gain independent living skills while providing daily living support and community access. Two permanent full‑time positions operate on a 12‑hour, 2‑week rotation schedule.
Schedule
- Day Shift : 0900–2100, 2 days on / 3 days off (Week 1); days on / 2 days off (Week 2)
- Night Shift : 2000–0800, 2 days on / 3 days off (Week 1); 3 days on / 2 days off (Week 2)
In Your Role
Support household chores, life skills and personal hygiene as needed.Provide support according to the client’s care plan.Respond immediately in crisis situations, using de‑escalation techniques.ister medication and first aid when necessary.Use computer programs to write objective daily reports and document notes and observations.A complete and detailed list of key responsibilities is available at the time of interview.Prior to confirmation of employment, provide a current Criminal Record Check and / or Government Screening Letter.Ideal Candidate
Work well in an environment with potential aggression / violence.MUST HAVE 2 years experience working with individuals with significant mental health concerns, aggressive behaviors and / or trauma.High School Diploma / GED.Prefer a Certificate, Diploma or Degree – Disability Service Worker, Social Work, Special Education or related field.Valid class 5 driver license (or GDL and 2 years driving experience) with clear driving abstract and reliable vehicle.Current First Aid / CPR and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention certification (NVCI or CPI).Training in Trauma‑Informed Practice, Medication Administration, Suicide Intervention, Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB), Conflict Resolution, Food Safe.Confident & able to function in a crisis.Benefits
