On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Senior Project Manager for a 9 month contract, in Calgary, AB.

Senior Project Manager Job Details

Working with other Project Management professionals in the Integration Management Office (IMO) and IT Project Managers, the Integration Project Manager is responsible for managing and delivering the overall integration project plan and its deliverables for their client business groups. This includes responsibility for planning and executing project activities and managing resources to ensure the established scope, budget, time and quality goals are met.

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities

Project Controls:

• Work with business leaders, IMO team members and IT technical teams to define integration project plans and investments required to deliver seamless Day 1 operations, transition state projects and future state synergies for the CP KCS railway.
• Manage all project deliverables including scope, schedule, budget, and benefits.
• Identify and negotiate project resource requirements with delivery organizations (internal & external), set delivery expectations, and evaluate delivery performance;
• Direct accountability for planning and executing multiple concurrent business projects to meet project performance criteria (on time, within scope, on budget, and quality standards) as defined in the project statement(s);
• Stakeholder management and related communication activities throughout the integration process
• Facilitate interactions between Business Teams, IT Technical Leads, Project Delivery Staff, and members of the Integration Management Office to ensure that project delivery are fully aligned
• Facilitate cross-departmental project delivery activities, and gain commitment for delivery while managing competing demands, to ensure that project delivery dates are not compromised
• Plan project implementations, facilitate implementation dry runs, and lead “Go Live” activities to ensure successful production implementations
• Escalate material issues and risks to IMO and Business leadership in a timely fashion
• Ensure that Organizational Change Management activities are completed to drive integration adoption
• Ensure Transition to Support is planned for, completed and approved so that the Business and IT support organizations can support all new or modified processes and systems

Project Controls:

• Follow IMO processes regarding deliverables and controls in accordance with SOX and management controls compliance;
• Create and maintain project financials, budgets and forecasts using SAP and Excel; provide accurate and timely project financial submissions;
• Develop, monitor and control all aspects of project delivery in accordance with CP IMO and project management best practices
• Develop, and support the development, of presentations to senior management regarding project scope, schedule, budget, and current status updates.

Team Leadership:

• Provide project leadership: set clear goals, engage team members, resolve conflict and recognize team member contributions appropriately;
• Conduct regular lessons learned sessions to ensure continuous improvement of project teams.

Senior Project Manager Must Have Skills

• 10+ years of experience leading multi-stakeholder, business focused initiatives;
• Rapidly learn new business processes and business operating practices and apply this knowledge to identify, develop and deliver business projects
• Experience in delivering integration projects as part of a major business merger would be an asset
• Hands-on experience using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel to plan, deliver and report on projects
• Ability to communicate and influence decision making at VP and Director levels, with demonstrated prioritization and conflict resolution experience;
• Advanced project management practical expertise across knowledge areas: scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communication, risk and procurement and system integration;
• degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration.
• Project Management Professional certificate (PMP) or equivalent experience;
• PROSCI Change Management certification would be considered an asset.

Business Unit Specific Requirements:

• Operations Support Integration Project Manager:
• Strong knowledge of contract management, sourcing, process improvement and technical training. Preferably in a railway or transportation industry.
• Experience in delivering successful business and IT projects.
• Knowledge of SAP Ariba would be an asset.
• Measuring and tracking Key Performance Indicators.

Service Design & Railway Operation (4 Business Streams):

• Strong Integration skills supporting Subject matter Experts in railway operation design and planning.
• Able to rapidly identify risks, issues and dependencies for integration activities between business stakeholders
• Experience in delivering successful disciplined operational business and IT projects including people, process and technology cut-overs.
• Transportation knowledge is an asset
