Shipper-Receiver
Position Summary :
Our Sherwood Park rebal manufacturing client is seeking a Shipper Receiver. The Shipper / Receiver is responsible for sending, accepting, and recording the movement of material and supplies on behalf of the organization.
In addition, this position will be responsible for working with walk-in or drop-in customers to provide professional sales advice to help meet their needs.
Salary :
$50,000 to $57,500 plus benefits
Duties :
- shipments between detailing, shop, and job sites ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and entered into the system
- Print off and prepare bills of lading, shipping tags, leads, and / or any other paperwork to facilitate the shipping process
- Print off tags for the shop daily
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as bills of lading, rebar cut lists, invoices, or orders, to verify the accuracy of shipment
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials; ensure all documentation is submitted to finance in a timely fashion
- Determine shipping method for materials using the knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates; monitor spending and identify the most cost-effective shipping method for all deliveries
- Record shipment data for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes;
- Monitor inventory levels and identify low quantities to management
- Contact the courier / tracking representative to decide and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
- Monitors and assesses the performance of couriers / brokers and communicates feedback to address issues or concerns
- Take orders / review drawings and information from customers and enter orders into aSa; process cash / credit transactions as required
- Monitor and service walk-in customers providing price information based on management guidelines; communicate fabrication times with walk in business
- Ensure customer shipments are sent in a timely fashion
- Prepare, send, scan, and save Mill Certs
- Back up resource to answer phones
- Provide exceptional and professional customer service (quotes, orders, follow-up orders, backlog)
- Maintain freight spreadsheets
- Be knowledgeable about all products and services provided (rebar, mesh, anchor bolts, concrete accessories)
- Route qualified opportunities to the management for further development and closure
- Assist with inventory audit (yearly)
- Attend site / project kick of meetings
Requirements :
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Shipping / Receiving role (previous experience working in the heavy industrial, manufacturing, steel, or rebar industry & knowledge of aSa considered an asset).
- Excellent math skills (calculations, conversions); strong numerical fluency
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience reading blueprints / drawings
- Excellent communication and customer service skills combined with strong computer skills
- Proven ability to display patience when dealing with the public combined with experience in managing negotiations with customers as it pertains to delivery dates and adhering to commitments
- Proven ability to direct difficult customers tactfully, courteously & professionally
- Experience in sales or customer service
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular) and Google Suite
- Preference is given to those with experience in the construction, manufacturing, or steel fabrication industry
