The Entry‑Level Substation Electrical Engineer will help power homes, businesses, and industries across Alberta and beyond, delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions.

Shape tomorrow’s energy systems and communities. Your work will contribute to projects that power homes, businesses, and industries across Alberta and beyond. You’ll develop substations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and support site visits and occasional travel.
Your Impact
- Design low to extra‑high voltage substations, including one‑line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and SCADA systems.
- Develop station physical layouts, ground grid designs, and structural plans that meet client standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed cable and conduit plans, foundation drawings, and lightning protection strategies.
- Support QA / QC processes to ensure deliverables meet WSP’s high‑quality standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate innovative solutions into complex projects.
- Conduct site visits and occasional travel to support project execution and client engagement.
The Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.Eligibility for Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) status with APEGA or equivalent.Familiarity with electrical utility substations and substation design principles.Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design tools; eagerness to learn advanced software.A passion for delivering impactful engineering solutions that enhance communities and energy systems.Why Choose WSP?

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT : $73,400 – $97,200
MB & ON : $67,000 – $92,200
Atlantic Provinces & QC : $66,300 – $88,000
