Brewing/Blender Operator

Calling all Brewing Talent! We are currently looking to add a new Big Rocker to our Brewing team. The Brewing / Blending Operator is responsible for activities related to the beer brewing process and blending Ready-to-Drink (RTD) beverage recipes.
Under moderate supervision, performs basic, routine beer and RTD blending tasks including but not limited to : CIP and sanitizing Cellar fittings, hoses, fixed process lines, tanks, pumps, filters and water processing equipment.
receipt of raw materials, management of cellar equipment process equipment. The successful candidate will be competent with basic troubleshooting techniques in order to react with a sense of urgency to any unforeseen process events.
The Brewing / Blending Operator will ensure that Safety and Quality are at the forefront of all activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The brewing / blending operator will be working in all areas of the brewery, this includes brewing, cellaring, filtering, and any other area as required.
- Understand and follow the brewing, filtration, cellaring and packaging schedules.
- Follow all SOP s while operating any equipment and / or tasks in the brewery.
- Produce wort within specifications in the brew house, cool into fermenters, yeast handling.
- CIP brew house, tanks, centrifuge, filter, can line and associated equipment.
- Data entry, spreadsheet calculations and other analytical tasks as required.
- Maintain CIP checklists; remove recycling and garbage as required.
- Handling of brewing materials as needed.
- Follow the proper safety precautions regarding use and handling of chemicals.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.
- Strong understanding of all aspects and duties in each of the brewing areas.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team environment through strong communication, interpersonal, and teambuilding skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to drive impact and effect positive change with a flexible, open-minded, positive approach.
- Follow the daily / weekly / monthly cleaning schedules and adhering to Best Brewing Practices.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Microbiology, Chemistry, or Food Science or College Diploma in a Technical Discipline or a Brewing Program preferred (Brewing background / credentials or Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered).
- General mechanical aptitude, good troubleshooting, and quick learning skills.
- Knowledge of CIP practices and cleaning chemicals, and WHMIS.
- Good math and computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- A positive work attitude, with the ability to multi-task; reliable.
- Must be physically fit to be able to spend long hours standing and perform occasional medium to heavy lifting (e.g. specialty malt or hops up to 30 kgs).
- Ability to perform duties to a high level of standard under minimal direct supervision.
- Candidates will need to satisfactorily complete a brewing knowledge assessment.
- Strong interpersonal skills that support the corporate culture.

- Sitting, standing, and bending is required.
- Occasional lifting to 25 kg’s.

- Required to work rotational shifts, including nights weekends and potentially statutory holidays (time worked will be compensated according to employment standards).
- Safety equipment required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses / goggles, etc.
