Job Description

We are currently seeking a Plant Manager for our client's.

The successful candidate will be an energetic, engaging, and results-oriented individual responsible for all site operations of a state-of-the-art, automated bakery and packaging facility.

Ensuring that the plant operates using good manufacturing practices is essential. This role also involves managing the overall results for the manufacturing operation and facilities management, while strictly adhering to Food Safety and Quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a unionized, consumer-packaged goods, and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Identify and implement Best Practices across all functional areas
  • Determine staffing requirements for both salaried and hourly positions
  • Prepare and execute the budget related to production costs
  • Oversee and review production costs, labor utilization, yield, and opportunities for cost improvement initiatives
  • Ensure manufacturing runs efficiently and adheres to the highest safety and quality standards
  • Set and deliver operating budgets
  • Develop systems and processes to optimize productivity and exceed performance targets
  • Lead and engage approximately 160 unionized and management team members to achieve company goals
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain facility infrastructure standards consistent with company image
  • Exemplify professionalism, positive employee relations, and the ability to make accurate and timely decisions

Essential Skills and Qualifications :

  • Passion for Health & Safety and Quality
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in food science, business, engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably unionized CPG
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in a management role with strong leadership experience
  • Strong understanding and experience in a manufacturing environment complemented with professional written and verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen including decision-making ability using various analytical tools
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Previous experience in highly automated manufacturing operations is an asset
  • Previous experience in a union facility is an asset
