WORK ILLUSTRATION :

Responsible for the design, development, implementation, management, and maturity of the organization’s enterprise risk management and strategic project risk management programs.

Responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders at all levels to provide advice, consultation and recommendations for the alignment and integration of the enterprise risk management programs into business unit operations and planning.

The incumbent is also responsible for the review and reporting on risk exposure, trends, emerging risks and opportunities, mitigation and outcomes.

The incumbent provides recommendations to strengthen and continuously improve processes to minimize risk exposure and to enhance strategic planning.

The incumbent has responsibility for research and analysis relating to emerging risks and opportunities in the industry and broader market.

In addition, they support the preparation of materials for presentation to the Senior Management team, the Executive team and the Board of Directors.

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management.

The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Works with identified internal clients to conduct ongoing reviews and analysis of strategic and functional risks to identify trends, minimize and mitigate enterprise risks, and support the reduction of risk exposure.
  • Works with internal clients to develop risk mitigation mechanisms, plans, and measurement vehicles (including predictive indicators) to monitor and control corporate risk exposure, likelihood, frequency and impact.
  • Provides oversight and governance to ensure enterprise risk action plans are in place, communicated and understood by internal and external stakeholders, are tested, measured and monitored.
  • Develops key strategic relationships internally to understand the Business Units and their requirements, so that the ERM program can best integrate into the Business Unit’s risk management practices and help them achieve their strategic goals, while considering a holistic enterprise risk-based strategic view.
  • Facilitates / conducts information gathering, analysis, quarterly, annual and other enterprise risk assessments workshops, meetings with senior leaders and assigned internal clients to execute on functional requirements and to provide results / recommendations for the alignment and integration of the enterprise risk management program into the business unit operations and business planning.
  • Develops tools to enhance the effectiveness of enterprise risk management processes.
  • Organizes effective means of measuring the status and trends of enterprise risks and reporting upon the same.
  • Undertakes research and analysis of emerging risks in the broader industry that may impact Toronto Hydro.
  • Provides support to strategic projects in designing, and implementing a tailored project risk management approach, measuring their risk exposure and their ability to drive and capture opportunities consistent with the ERM program.
  • Assists in strategic planning and situational analysis, and supports the preparation of presentations and materials, and follow-up actions / initiatives in support to the Senior Management team, the Executive Team and the Board of Directors meetings and organizational priorities and goals.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in planning and executing financial, operational or IT related audits, or enterprise risk management.
  • Risk Management Certificate from an accredited institution or a Canadian Risk Management designation required.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience of risk management best practices and standards such as COSO ERM 2017 (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission), ISO 31000 : 2018 Risk Management Guidelines, and / or electricity industry Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks.
  • Experience with electrical utility or other highly regulated industries is an asset.
  • Proficient in risk management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of sustainability risk concepts and ESG factors is an asset.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate ideas and influence change with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Able to work independently and exercise strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills including modelling and financial costs and benefits.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs.

Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.
